Publishing and Program Grants for Women
Since 2018, Publish Her (formerly My Founder Story) has grown a community of more than 30,000 members and awarded more than $250,000 in grants and services to women. Visit the Grant Winners page to learn about the grant recipients.
Many women face obstacles in publishing today. Even more so if she is a woman of color, a woman with a disability, a member of the LGBTQ+ community or any combination of these. Publish Her is on a mission to disrupt the status quo and remove barriers for underrepresented authors. We do so, in part, by providing access to publishing services and programs through grants. Grants are available for the following programs and services:
Intro to Publishing Workshop
Publish Her’s Intro to Publishing Workshop educates authors on the publishing industry and various book publishing models and provides real world behind-the-scenes publishing insights you won’t find on the internet. Thanks to our community partners, registration is DISCOUNTED $50 for all participants (no code needed). Learn more.
Self-Publish Like a Pro Coaching
Publish Her’s Self-Publish Like a Pro Coaching provides valuable insights for self-publishing your book, from ensuring it’s ready to publish and marketable to navigating ever-changing publishing platforms to publishing and promoting your finished product.When parts one and two are purchased together, Self-Publish Like a Pro Coaching is DISCOUNTED $50 for women of color, women with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Women’s Writing Circles
Publish Her’s Women’s Writing Circles provide an opportunity for women to learn, write and connect. For each eight-week session, registration is FREE for two women of color/women with disabilities/members of the LGBTQ+ community. (Update: All grants have been awarded for Women’s Writing Circles.)
Book Publishing
Book publishing grants include editing, design, marketing and publishing for a softcover book of 40,000-80,000 words. To qualify for a book publishing grant, you must be the author of a completed and previously unpublished manuscript that is a minimum of 40,000 words (fiction or nonfiction). You must identify as a woman of color, a woman with a disability or a member of the LGBTQ+ community (or any combination of these), as well as a legal resident of the U.S., and 21 years of age or older. If you meet these qualifications, complete the application below. Grantees will be notified by email. (Update: All grants have been awarded for 2025-2026 publishing.)
