The new year marks a significant change for My Founder Story and Publish Her. Since launching the social enterprise in 2018, Chris Olsen has grown My Founder Story to a community of more than 20,000 members and donated more than $250,000 in grants and services to women. Now, My Founder Story has joined forces with Chris’ other venture, Publish Her, to become Publish Her Story. While the name has changed, the goal remains the same: equity for women.
“The odds are stacked against women business owners and authors, and even more so for women of color, women with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community or any combination of these,” said Chris.
Women still earn around 20 percent less than men. According to the 2022 Global Gender Gap Report, at the current rate of progress, it will take more than 130 years to achieve pay equity. The pay gap also affects women business owners, who earn significantly less for a number of reasons, largely because they don’t receive access to the critical resources their male counterparts do to start and grow small businesses.
“Publish Her is on a mission to disrupt the status quo. Our mantra: Prepare her. Pay her. Promote her. Publish her,” Chris said. “We demonstrate our commitment to creating equity for women by providing access to resources like education and grants, and by giving women business owners and authors the recognition they deserve.”
Publish Her Story is now the main channel for providing that recognition. In addition to featuring the stories of female-founded businesses, the storytelling platform will include the work of women authors. Print anthologies and magazines will further amplify women’s voices and support grant programs.
The combining of My Founder Story and Publish Her resources means authors are connected to a large community of supporters, and women business owners have access to a publishing company with a passion for helping women write and publish business books.
The transition to Publish Her Story includes new branding, and in the coming year, it will also bring a new grant program for women business owners.
