Four-Part Immigrant and Indigenous Women’s Storytelling Workshop (Live/Virtual)

The Immigrant and Indigenous Women’s Stories Project is a Publish Her and Unstoppable Latina collaboration that centers the journeys that shaped immigrant, Indigenous, first-generation and refugee women. It supports women in writing their stories and sharing them with the world—potentially for publication in a digital feature or forthcoming Publish Her anthology.

Description

This Four-Part Immigrant and Indigenous Women’s Storytelling Workshop is open to writers of all levels (ages 18+) who identify as women (including transgender women and gender-nonconforming individuals connected to womanhood) and provides structure, guidance and community to bring your story to life. This live/virtual workshop is led by storytelling expert Paulette Piñero, founder of Unstoppable Latina, and author Chris Olsen, founder of Publish Her and Publish Her Story.

This workshop includes:

  • Four 90-minute live/virtual sessions via Zoom, Thursdays, May 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2026, 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Central Standard Time
  • Weekly lessons, prompts and editorial guidance to help you write and strengthen your narrative
  • Time to write in class, share and discuss it with your peers
  • Editorial review of your completed essay for potential publication in a digital feature or forthcoming Publish Her anthology (publication is not guaranteed)

Additional details:

  • This workshop is broadcast live on the internet via Zoom.
  • The live/virtual workshop’s visual presentation is displayed directly from the presenter’s computer to the screen of your computer or phone.
  • The live/virtual audio is delivered through your computer’s speakers, auxiliary speakers, or over your phone.
  • The Q&A is managed through submissions in the chat with questions being read by a member of our staff or the presenter for the entire class to hear.
  • By attending the live/virtual workshop and/or asking questions, your full name may be stated during the event or captured in a recording.
  • This workshop is nonrefundable.

Registration for this Four-Part Immigrant and Indigenous Women’s Storytelling Workshop is $500.

If you cannot afford the $500 registration fee, please pay what you can (between $50 and $500).

To fund a full or partial grant for someone who cannot afford the $500 registration fee, please include it with your amount.
