Shop Small This Holiday Season and Support These Businesses Founded By Women of Color

By Chris Olsen

For many small businesses, the revenue they generate during holiday season accounts for a significant portion of their annual sales. But it can be a challenge to compete with big box stores and mammoth online retailers for consumer dollars. And a large number of small businesses are at a disadvantage—some more than others. For women-owned small businesses, the average yearly revenue is $143,000. Black women-owned businesses earn significantly less—an average of $24,000 annually. This is largely because women of color do not receive access to the critical resources needed to start and grow their small businesses.

As a consumer, you can make a difference by choosing to shop small. This directory features more than 150 businesses founded by women of color that you can help thrive. Buy products from these businesses. Use their services. Show your support by liking, sharing, following and recommending small businesses like these this holiday season.
