Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is This Holiday Season: Support Businesses Owned by Women of Color
By Chris Olsen
More than ever, consumers are supporting brands that align with their values. Supporting small businesses is critical to the economy. For many small businesses, it is a challenge to compete with big box stores and mammoth online retailers for consumer dollars. A large number of small businesses are at a disadvantage—some more than others. For women-owned small businesses, the average yearly revenue is $143,000. Businesses owned by women of color earn significantly less—an average of $24,000 annually. This is largely because women of color do not receive access to the critical resources needed to start and grow their small businesses.
You can make a difference by putting your money where your heart is. This directory features more than 150 businesses founded by women of color that you can help thrive. Buy products from these businesses. Use their services. Show your support by liking, sharing, following and recommending small businesses like these all year long.
