Welcome to the Publish Her Author Community

Whether this is your first time being published, or you’ve published in the past—congratulations! Your essay has been selected to be featured in “Publish Her Anthology: Between Worlds,” which is scheduled to be released this year.

We sincerely thank you for your contribution! This Publish Her anthology serves multiple purposes. In addition to elevating the words, stories and writing of women, 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of this anthology will benefit programs for immigrant women and families.

Here are the terms (please review them carefully):

• Payment: Authors receive $100 for stories selected to be included in “Publish Her Anthology: Between Worlds.” Payment is send via PayPal or Venmo. In lieu of a cash payment, you may elect to receive a hardcover copy of the book.
• Rights: Publish Her requests first serial rights on the stories published in this anthology, meaning the story should not have appeared anywhere else, either in print or online. (This includes publication on an author’s own website.) If your story is published in the anthology, we request a period of exclusivity (one year) and the right to keep the story in print as part of the anthology. Publish Her does not request more rights than needed to produce this anthology or place any limits on what the author can do with the story after the exclusivity period. Copyright always remains with the author.
• Editing: It is unlikely that your essay will appear in the book exactly as you wrote it. Every essay selected to be published in a Publish Her anthology goes through four stages of editing—developmental editing, line editing, copy editing and proofreading. Some essays may be more heavily edited than others. You will have an opportunity to review your edited essay before the book goes to press. If you are not comfortable with the edits to your essay, you may withdraw your submission.
• Marketing: Authors are required to provide a current headshot (read the requirements here), which will be used to promote your participation in the project via Publish Her’s e-news and social media (read our privacy policy and permissions here). Our marketing team will create graphics that include the book, your image, the images of other authors, etc. As a member of the Publish Her author community, we ask that you share the graphics and information about the book with your networks and participate in book events as you are able. Together we make a greater impact.
