Twelve Books to Read During Women’s History Month and Beyond
By Chris Olsen
Women’s History Month is a time to celebrate women’s often overlooked contributions throughout America’s history. What started in Santa Rosa, California, as a weeklong celebration coinciding with International Women’s Day quickly became a movement in other communities across the country. In 1980, an organization now known as the Women’s History Alliance lobbied for national recognition, and in 1986, Congress passed a law designating March as Women’s History Month in the U.S.
